BTS swept major weekly charts at home and abroad with their fifth studio album "ARIRANG."
According to Hanteo Chart, a music sales tracking platform, BTS's new album "ARIRANG" topped both the weekly World Chart and Album Chart (tracking period: March 23-29) on Wednesday. The album first reached No. 1 on those charts (third week of March) with just three days of sales after its March 20 release, and has now held the top spot for two consecutive weeks.
According to a preview article published by U.S. music trade publication Billboard on Wednesday, "ARIRANG" debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 main album chart (dated April 4). The album entered with 641,000 album-equivalent units, the best weekly performance by a group since the unit-based tracking system was introduced in December 2014. Of that total, 532,000 were pure album sales (physical and digital purchases), setting a new record for the highest weekly sales by a group in roughly a decade.
BTS also dominated global streaming charts. The group swept Spotify's weekly charts (tracking period: March 20-26), topping the Weekly Top Albums, Weekly Top Songs and Weekly Top Artists on the global charts. Notably, title track "SWIM" claimed No. 1 on the Weekly Top Songs Global chart, with all 14 tracks from the album landing within the top 30.
"SWIM" held the No. 1 spot on Spotify's Daily Top Songs Global for nine consecutive days (March 20-28) and on Apple Music's Top 100 Global for seven consecutive days (March 23-29). All tracks from the album also ranked on the latest charts of both platforms. Even 10 days after release, not only the title track but every album track maintained strong popularity, proving the enduring love of global music fans.
Meanwhile, BTS will hold their "BTS WORLD TOUR 'ARIRANG'" at Goyang Stadium in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province on April 9, 11 and 12. In October, the group will perform stadium shows across South America in Colombia, Peru, Argentina, Chile and Brazil. A total of 46 shows — including dates in Goyang, North America, Europe and Tokyo — have already sold out, demonstrating the group's formidable ticket power.
