Jongmyo, a UNESCO World Heritage site, has become the face of the 48th UNESCO World Heritage Committee session to be held in Busan this July.
The Korea Heritage Service (headed by Commissioner Heo Min) on Sunday unveiled the official emblem symbolizing the 48th UNESCO World Heritage Committee session, which will be hosted in Korea for the first time this July. According to the Korea Heritage Service, the emblem was designed using the form and colors of the tiled roof of Jeongjeon, the main hall of Jongmyo, Korea's first UNESCO World Heritage site. The emblem features the majestic roof curves of Jongmyo extending to both sides, representing the significance of national heritage preservation — including the ritual order of the Joseon royal court and traditional architecture maintained for over 600 years in the heart of Seoul.
The Korea Heritage Service explained, "Through this World Heritage Committee emblem, we aim to convey three messages to the world: Continuity, Peace, and Collaboration."
