The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said Culture Minister Choi Hwi-young met with representatives from the China Association of Travel Services and travel agencies handling Korea-bound tourism at the Korean Cultural Center in Beijing on Wednesday, during his visit to China for the "Korea-China Friendship Week."
According to the ministry, Minister Choi explained Korea's policy efforts to expand transportation options, including flights, for travel to Korea. Specific measures include: ▲ supporting the development of charter flight packages linking regional airports for Chinese cities without direct routes to Korea; ▲ supporting the development of combined packages connecting domestic Chinese inland transportation with Korea-bound ferry services for China's third- and fourth-tier cities; and ▲ supporting travel to regions with newly launched flight routes.
The minister also outlined various support measures following the expansion of multiple-entry visa issuance for Korea-bound travel. These include: ▲ joint promotions with airlines and Chinese visa application centers (seven locations) targeting residents of cities eligible for multiple-entry visas; ▲ hospitality events timed around the May Day holiday, summer vacation and October National Day; and ▲ luggage transfer service support.
