Culture Minister Choi Hwi-young expressed gratitude for the safe conclusion of BTS's comeback concert held at Gwanghwamun Square in Jongno-gu, Seoul, on the 21st.
On the 22nd, Minister Choi posted photos from the BTS concert on her social media, writing, "BTS's 'Arirang' Gwanghwamun concert concluded without a single safety incident." She added, "This is thanks to the mature civic awareness of our citizens and the cooperation of 'ARMY' fans who came from around the world."
BTS held a roughly one-hour comeback concert at Gwanghwamun Square at 8 p.m. on the 21st to debut their fifth studio album "Arirang." This marks their first full-group album in three years and nine months since "Proof" was released in June 2022. The Seoul Metropolitan Government estimated approximately 40,000 attendees, while concert organizer HYBE put the figure at 100,000.
Minister Choi wrote, "The voices of BTS, returning after three years and five months, resonated across Gwanghwamun Square bathed in purple, and the dynamic performance by the complete group drew admiration from fans." She continued, "I thank the many citizens who endured inconveniences for this concert that was broadcast to some 190 countries worldwide, as well as all the volunteers and public servants who worked to ensure a safe event."
She added, "The government will do its best to help our proud K-culture spread faster and wider across the world, building on this concert." She also noted, "I'm sharing a few photos of the venue filled with cheering fans. I didn't take these myself. I was staying nearby in case of any safety incidents."
