The station sign Rail Plus cards that sparked a sellout frenzy are returning with a cherry blossom theme.
Korea Railroad Corp. (Korail) announced Sunday it will release a cherry blossom edition of its Rail Plus transit cards featuring station sign designs from 12 stations nationwide.
The limited spring collection features station signs from 12 locations including Jinhae and Gyeongju, famous for cherry blossoms, as well as Seoul, Yongsan, Daejeon, Busan, Gangneung, Jeonju, Chuncheon, Suncheon, Yeongam, and Deungnyang.
The Rail Plus card is a nationwide prepaid transit card accepted on railways, subways, buses, and taxis, as well as at convenience stores and cafes. Cards are priced at 4,000 won.
Each station's card is available at Storyway convenience stores within the respective station. Cards for Jinhae Station, which lacks an in-station Storyway, will be sold at Masan, Changwon, and Changwon Jungang stations. Yeongam Station cards will be available at Mokpo Station, and Deungnyang Station cards at Suncheon Station.
"We wanted to capture the cherry blossom atmosphere of train stations nationwide, from famous blossom destinations to hidden local stops," said Choi Eun-joo, head of Korail's Metropolitan Railroad Division. "We hope these become keepsakes for spring train travel memories."
