
Yonsei University Gangnam Severance Hospital announced on the 4th that it held the inauguration ceremony for its 16th president, Kim Yong-wook.
The new president graduated from Yonsei University College of Medicine in 1994 and has served in various leadership positions including head of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Severance Hospital, vice president for clinical innovation, president of Severance Rehabilitation Hospital, and director of planning and coordination at Yonsei University Health System. He is recognized as a leader who combines medical management expertise with practical experience, having completed a master's program at Chungbuk National University Graduate School of Business Administration and an executive program at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He currently serves as vice chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee at the Food and Drug Crime Investigation Division of the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office and as a specialist in life and medical sciences for the National Science and Technology Advisory Council under the Ministry of Science and ICT.
Approximately 150 faculty and staff members attended the ceremony held in the hospital's main auditorium, including Keum Ki-chang, Vice President for Medical Affairs at Yonsei University and President of the Medical Center.
Kim identified the construction of a new hospital building, strengthening excellence in clinical care and research, and transitioning toward digital, AI, and human-centered approaches as his key priorities. "I will establish the most rational and future-oriented policies while looking at the limitless potential that Gangnam Severance Hospital holds," he said. "I will do my best to listen to voices from the field and unite the hearts of all hospital members to achieve remarkable progress."
