KT Studio Genie has proven its planning and production capabilities in the short-form drama market, with its debut releases reaching No. 1 on two major global short-form platforms.
The company announced that its short-form dramas "The Cleaner's Second Marriage" and "Jamanchu Clubhouse," released in January, ranked first on DramaBox and ReelShort respectively immediately after their debut.
"The Cleaner's Second Marriage," starring actors Park Han-byul and Ko Joo-won, is a remake of the popular Korean short-form drama "Not 50 Years Old." The series topped DramaBox's popularity rankings upon release.

The achievement demonstrates that the planning expertise and narrative capabilities accumulated through long-form drama production remain effective in short-form content. Industry observers note that KT Studio Genie's "short-form studio model" is beginning to deliver results.
The global short-form drama market is experiencing explosive growth. According to Media Partners Asia, short-form drama revenue is projected to grow from $5 billion in 2023 to $26 billion by 2030. Kakao Ventures estimates the domestic short-form drama market at approximately 650 billion won as of 2024.
In response to these market trends, KT Studio Genie has been preparing its short-form business for global expansion. The company declared its positioning as a "specialized short-form studio" at a media day in April last year. In July, it partnered with DramaBox to host a short-form drama script competition, focusing on original IP discovery and building global distribution pipelines.

The company's core competitive advantage lies in its "short-form studio model," which internalizes the entire process from investment to production and distribution. Rather than simple outsourcing, KT Studio Genie has established a sustainable revenue model through IP ownership-based structures. It has completed Korea's largest supply system capable of releasing more than one original short-form drama per week, totaling 56 productions annually.
The company has secured stable production pipelines through partnerships with specialized short-form producers including New Universe and Fullim. Collaborations with major global platforms such as DramaBox, ReelShort, GoodShort, ShortMax, and iQIYI International have created a fast track enabling "global release upon debut." Domestically, partnerships with Tving, Bigle, and Lezhin Snack (Lezhin Entertainment) have established a total of 30 domestic and international distribution networks.
KT Studio Genie is also pursuing production efficiency through AI-based infrastructure. The company currently applies AI technology to select productions, reducing costs for challenging scenes such as drone shots and large-scale vehicle sequences by approximately 20%. It aims to achieve over 40% reduction in total production costs through continued technological advancement.
This approach is expected to enable production of challenging genres such as science fiction, fantasy, and period dramas that were previously difficult to execute in short-form. The technology will drive genre diversification beyond the current focus on romance and revenge dramas, becoming a key foundation for realizing creators' imaginations.
"Demand for Korea's premium short-form content is rapidly expanding, particularly in North America and Southeast Asia. Short-form will become mainstream daily content, beyond mere snack culture," said Oh Ki-je, Executive Director of KT Studio Genie's Content Business Division. "KT Studio Genie has established a 'studio model' system to strengthen short-form competitiveness. We will redefine the global standard for K-short-form through global mega-IP remakes and full AI short-form production."
