Seoul will transform into a vibrant cultural festival space to celebrate the comeback of K-pop group BTS.
BigHit Music announced Thursday that a large-scale event "BTS THE CITY ARIRANG SEOUL" will be held across Seoul from March 20, the release date of BTS's fifth studio album "ARIRANG," through April 12.
"Experiential content combining music and media, along with installations harmonized with the city's landscape, will unfold throughout Seoul," BigHit Music said.
On the album release date, media facades will be displayed at major Seoul landmarks including Sungnyemun Gate and Seoul Tower.
The agency explained that modern media facades projected onto cultural heritage sites such as Sungnyemun Gate will create symbolic scenes where tradition and the present coexist. The initiative aims to showcase the value of Korean cultural heritage to the world.
At Yeouido Hangang Park, a lounge program offering a shared listening experience of BTS's music will run from March 20 to 22. In April, stone walls, staircases, and roadside trees throughout downtown Seoul will be transformed into exhibition spaces featuring BTS song lyrics expressed through light and video.
"We collaborated with the Seoul Metropolitan Government to create programs that allow both tourists and citizens visiting Seoul during 'The City Arirang Seoul' to experience culture and art in new ways and enjoy BTS's comeback in a multidimensional manner," BigHit Music said. "Partnership events connected with various sectors including food and beverage and mobility have also been arranged."
Detailed schedules and program information for "The City Arirang Seoul" will be released later through the fan platform Weverse. "BTS THE CITY ARIRANG" will also expand from Seoul to major cities worldwide.
