Leading robotic surgery experts from around the world gathered in Korea to discuss the future direction of robotic surgery.
Korea University Anam Hospital announced Sunday that it successfully concluded the "2026 Korea University Anam Hospital International Robotic Symposium" held recently at Mediheal Hall.
The event, themed "Shaping the Future of Surgery," brought together prominent medical professionals and researchers in robotic surgery from Korea, Taiwan, the United States, Singapore, the United Kingdom, Japan, and Hong Kong. Participants shared the latest clinical experiences and technological developments in robotic surgery and explored the future of surgery combining artificial intelligence and robotic technology.
Korea University Anam Hospital has accumulated clinical experience and data across various departments since the early stages of robotic surgery adoption. The event began with a session introducing the development of the hospital's Robotic Surgery Center, followed by intensive discussions on the expansion into departments including urology, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, endocrine surgery, hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery, and colorectal surgery, along with their clinical outcomes.
A special orthopedics session chaired by Han Seung-beom, president of Korea University Anam Hospital, drew significant attention with presentations suggesting robotic surgery could expand into various fields including soft tissue procedures. The hospital expects the symposium to further strengthen international academic exchange and cooperation.
"This was a meaningful occasion where we shared experiences and ideas across specialties and fields to collectively consider the future of surgery," President Han said. "We will continue to play a responsible role in advancing robotic surgery through collaboration with domestic and international experts."
