On the 11th to 18th, the National Ballet will hold a special photo exhibition 'Still in Motion' at Hangaram Art Center in Seoul Arts Center.
It is a project that reinterprets seven representative repertoire of the National Ballet with the delicate sense of director Jung Yoon-min and the eyes of six leading Korean photographers. It is a place to introduce the movement and breathing of ballet, which still flows even in a static image, by expanding it into visual art.
This project was designed to create an artistic record of the dancers' invisible efforts, emotions, and backstage breathing based on questions from “Time Stopped on Stage” five years ago, when the COVID-19 pandemic was in full swing. In addition, it was intended to be an opportunity to expand the audience by providing a viewing experience that people unfamiliar with ballet can naturally approach through visual art that reconstructs the representative repertoire of the National Ballet with a modern sensibility. It is also significant in that it is the first full-scale exhibition project completed in collaboration with the National Ballet Support Association.
Director Kang Soo Jin stated about this exhibition as “a new beginning of art communication with the National Ballet to meet more people beyond the space called a stage,” and “I hope this exhibition will be an opportunity to introduce another face of the National Ballet to the audience.”
